GOOGLE ARMS NEXUS MOD 1

In 2042 Google Inc (California) purchased Heckler and Koch GmbH in their quest to infiltrate every profitable market. After allowing H&K to continue it's profitable business for some years they officially changed it's name to Google Arms Inc and began putting pressure on them to create a Google branded weapon for mass market distribution. In the year 2120 Google Arms Inc had finally perfected a 45 caliber side arm worthy of the Google name. The Nexus Mod 1 includes a heavy barrel construction with a fixed slide closed bolt operation. The gun can operate in full or semi automatic modes. The Nexus compensator was engineered after the successful USP Match compensator of the 21st century. The gun itself uses tried and true technology from HK's previous weapons with large advances in material engineering to increase strength and reduce weight. The weapon is chambered in a brand new round the .45 GOOG - a custom designed cartridge specifically for the Nexus. The .45 GOOG round increases the powder load and includes a lead/polymer bullet. The weapon is currently under review by the US military and has been accepted by Canadian and Japanese armies.

Rationale

I firmly believe that 100 years isn't all that long, considering we're still using tried and true designs from 100 years ago (colt 1911 pattern firearms). I had the idea that I wanted an unlikely company to design this firearm, I saw Google was currently trying to expand its influence into every industry it could get its hands on. It was a natural fit. The weapon itself is futuristic in appearance and minor advances in technology - I wanted to take a "Realistic" approach at a reasonable future. The design of the gun itself is based on both cues from HK's catalog as well as the design of google's nexus phone.

If Google ever buys H&K for real, I would highly want this pistol to exist.

wouldn't be that far out of the realm of possibility for a tech company to begin manufacturing arms...look at samsung, they make fricking tanks...

Nice rendering, but terrible design. As far as a working design goes. there are a multitude of pitfalls there, such as action, gas block positioning, bolt operation, its a mess, a pretty mess, but a mechanical mess. it also looks absurdly heavy, this is not a good thing.

Would look at and say its pretty, but would not use if it existed.

to be fair, it is in a distant future. Who's to say that the mechanics of how guns are made haven't "changed in that time" not to mention looking heavy isn't a problem it could be light (then again this is a fake gun. lol) and as for the actual mechanics of the gun it isn't exactly fair to claim "it wouldn't work" i mean if they can make a caliber changing rifle which can take nearly every rifle caliber (actual gun can't rightfully remember the name though sorry) im sure something designed like this would work depending on how it is actually made

Fucking scary, and really cool to think that someday we'll have Google, Bing and Yahoo all literally going to war with each other...World War Google Earth.  I have one small point of contention: namely, the tiny-looking muzzle.  You're going to fit a .45 through there?

if you were going to enter the market with a new weapon it be a bad idea to chamber it in a custom cartridge that only you produce. That would make ammunition expensive and more difficult to acquire which means that their chances of getting any big perches are about zero. So pretty much the only people you sell it to are collectors who either buy the gun as a show peace, or are wealthy enough to by the cartridges. So the whole "custom cartridge" thing would be a bad idea, and would probably kill the weapon. If they wanted it to be a success they would offer it in all the most common calibers like Glock. No military would standard issue a weapon chambered for a custom cartridge on logistics alone.

:D Thanks for the kind words! The gun itself was designed on paper, then brought into Adobe Illustrator to be refined and penned. The initial reference is actually on the blueprint on the table and on the top right. The reference was brought into 3DS Max and then modeled. After that it was textured in Adobe Photoshop and the whole render was recomposed in Adobe Photoshop (along with the newpaper clips painted in Photoshop as well).

Looks awesome. One small critique...the plans and the diagram up top show decocking lever and what looks like it would have been a slide release. But absent on the model!

But holy crap that looks good. I'd proudly fire a .45GOOG at least once.

Thanks for the critique sir, but its on the other side of the model ;) hehehe. It is on the reverse for right handed shooters, the plans are "See through" if you will for the concept stage but I assure you they're there hehehe
